OPTICAL ILLUSIONS AND BRAIN - TWISTING TOYS
Concentrate on one dot, and the others will simply disappear.

What: Some dots remain in place, while others disappear. At least, that's the way it is in this illusion, which is fantastically called an Extinction Illusion, named by its creator Jacques Ninio … In this optical phenomenon, when you fix your gaze on a single dot, you'll notice (or perhaps fail to notice?) that the other darker dots seem to vanish. Although it defies my intuition, it's classified here as a variant of the Hermann Grid.
How To: You have the ability to customize this entire setup to a greater or lesser extent! For me, the thickness of the lines is a crucial factor in enhancing the illusion, along with getting the contrasts right. However, you'll also find that certain color combinations work just as effectively. Additionally, you'll observe that the distances between the areas are quite significant.
Explain it: If this illusion is similar to the Hermann Grid, the exact mechanism is relatively unclear. That being said, this illusion gives a sensation not too different from the Troxler Fade, where some information is lost to the brain as it focuses on a single stimulus.
